The Pressenda Chamber Players is a multi-member ensemble of strings and piano is named for Giovanni Pressenda (1777-1854) maker of the instruments played by Pressenda Chamber Players Founder/Artistic Director and cellist Tobias Werner and member violinist Aaron Berofsky. Six outstanding members of the Pressenda Chamber Players present an evening of works for six strings by the great romantic composers Johannes Brahms and Peter Tchaikovsky: Brahms Sextet in G Major and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence. Performers include Aaron Berofsky, Kathryn Votapek violins; Amadi Azikiwe, Gregory Luce, violas; Jan Mueller-Szeraws and Tobias Werner cellos. The Pressenda Chamber Players are Ensemble-in-Residence at the Washington Conservatory of Music performing concerts and providing master classes. This is the final of four concerts presented by this ensemble, as part of the 2017-18 Washington Conservatory concert season.

Violinist Aaron Berofsky has gained wide recognition as a chamber musician and soloist performing with orchestras in the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain and Canada. More+

Violinist Kathryn Votapek maintains an active career as a soloist and chamber music artist throughout the US, Canada, and Europe and performs with the Votapek Trio. More+

Violist Amadi Azikiwe has performed in recitals throughout the US and with ensembles including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. More+

Violist Gregory Luce has performed in Austria, England, China, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Canada, Taiwan, and the United States. More+

Cellist Tobias Werner is the music director of The Chamber Music Conference of the East, as well as Artistic Director/ Founder of the Pressenda Chamber Players. He has appeared in chamber music concerts throughout the world. More+

Cellist Jan Mueller-Szeraws has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Chile, Germany and the United States since his early debut with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción . More+

Program


Audience members are invited to a post-concert Wine & Words in the church social hall – a fun and informal question and answer session with the musicians, with complimentary beverages.

The Washington Conservatory is a nationally accredited community music school for students of all ages. The Conservatory presents a professional monthly concert series October through May at Westmoreland Church in Bethesda and other public concerts and events throughout the year at Glen Echo Park. The Conservatory welcomes both seasoned and novice classical concert-goers and encourages families to attend our concerts with their children. Back balcony seating at the Westmoreland Circle location is suggested for families with small children as a courtesy to other audience members and to allow for easy exit. Conservatory Concerts are funded by donations and presented free of charge to allow those of all ages and economic means to enjoy outstanding live classical music in the community. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Parking
Parking is on-street on Massachusetts and Western Avenues and in the parking lot of Westmoreland Congregational UCC church. As a courtesy, please refrain from parking in the neighborhood and blocking the driveways of our neighbors.
