Welcome to the Washington Conservatory of Music family! We’re so excited to have you here. Here, you will find information about getting to and navigating our campus.
Directions
By Public Transit
- Metro:
- Take the Red Line to Bethesda Station or Friendship Heights Station.
- From either station, take Montgomery County Ride On Bus #29 toward Glen Echo Park.
- The bus will drop you off at the park entrance.
- Bus:
- Ride On Bus #29 serves Glen Echo Park from Bethesda Metro and Friendship Heights Metro stations.
By Car
- From Washington, D.C.:
- Take MacArthur Blvd NW heading west.
- Continue on MacArthur Blvd for approximately 6 miles.
- Glen Echo Park will be on your right, just past the Clara Barton Parkway exit.
- From I-495 (Capital Beltway):
- Take exit 39 for River Road (MD-190) toward Washington
- Follow River Road for about 3 miles, then turn left onto Goldsboro Rd (MD-614).
- Continue for about 2 miles, then turn right onto MacArthur Blvd.
- Glen Echo Park will be on your right in approximately 1 mile.
- From Virginia (via I-495/I-270):
- Take I-495 North toward Maryland.
- Cross into Maryland and take exit 41 for Clara Barton Parkway toward Glen Echo.
- Follow the parkway and take the Glen Echo exit.
Turn left onto MacArthur Blvd; the park entrance is on the right.
Parking
- Free parking is available in the Glen Echo Park Main Parking Lot, located just off MacArthur Blvd. Turn onto Oxford Road to access the parking lot.
- After parking, follow the main pedestrian entrance by crossing the footbridge (see map) into the park. It should take anywhere from 5-10 minutes to walk to the Washington Conservatory of Music, so please arrive with ample time to walk to the campus.
- The Washington Conservatory of Music is located inside the park (# 30 on the map). Follow signs or ask at the Park Visitor Center for assistance.
Walking Directions Inside the Park
- Enter Glen Echo Park from the main entrance off MacArthur Blvd.
- Walk past the Carousel and the Bumper Car Pavilion.
- The Washington Conservatory of Music is located at number 30.
Note for ADA Accessibility
There are two accessible parking options.
Permit Parking Lot at 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812. Drive through the permit parking lot to reach the accessible spaces, which are located near the iconic Glen Echo Park neon sign.
A parking permit is not required to use the accessible parking spaces. This location is the closest to Park facilities. Main Parking Lot at 5801 Oxford Road, Glen Echo, MD 20812. In this large parking lot, the accessible spaces are located close to the entrance to the Park.
Navigating the Park
Washington Conservatory of Music (Recital Room, WCM Offices, and Lesson Studios)
To access our main building, you’ll cross to the farthest end of the campus from the parking lot. This part of the campus is closest to the Irish Inn. If you need an accessible drop-off spot, you can drop off near the Irish Inn and park in the Main Parking Lot afterwards.
Arcade Building (Rooms 301, 302, 304)
Some of our lessons and classes are held in the Arcade Building, closer to the center of the campus and located right at the Visitors Center. Enter the building and take the stairs or the elevator to the 3rd floor.
Back Room (“Bach Room”)
The Back Room is attached to the Spanish Ballroom. As you near it, you will see the words “Ballroom Back Room” in the window. This is nearest to the Bumper Car Pavilion.
If coming from the conservatory, walk straight past the Bumper Car Pavilion. If coming from the Parking Lot, pass the Visitors Center, but keep right past the carousel.
