Are you a passionate young professional looking to make an impact? The Washington Conservatory of Music (WCM) Junior Board invites emerging leaders to help shape the future of music education, community engagement, and arts advocacy.

This is more than just a board—it’s a space to grow your leadership, expand your network, and contribute to a powerful mission rooted in accessibility, creativity, and excellence in music.

Your Role as a Junior Board Member

As a member of the Junior Board, you’ll actively support WCM’s programs through the following activities:

Advocate
Help amplify WCM’s mission by sharing our story at events, on social media, and among your peers.

Fundraise
Support WCM fundraising goals through campaigns, sponsorship efforts, and event planning.

Volunteer
Engage with the community through student showcases, instrument drives, and service events.

Network
Connect with fellow board members, alumni, and industry leaders through socials and networking events.

Advise
Offer input on programming, outreach, and strategic initiatives that expand our community reach.

Lead
Take on leadership roles within the board, including Chair, Vice Chair, or Committee Lead positions.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a cohort of 15–20 motivated individuals who:

  • Believe in the power of music to uplift and unite communities

  • Come from diverse professional backgrounds such as finance, law, marketing, education, nonprofits, and the arts

  • Are eager to contribute time, skills, and resources to support WCM’s mission

  • Want to grow their leadership experience while building meaningful connections

  • Can serve as advocates and ambassadors within their personal and professional networks

What You’ll Be a Part Of

The Junior Board plays a hands-on role in advancing WCM’s impact. As a member, you’ll contribute to:

  • Fundraising Events – Help plan and host signature events like our annual gala, benefit concerts, and donor receptions

  • Volunteer Days – Support youth-focused events, instrument donation drives, and community music workshops

  • Networking & Socials – Participate in mixers, happy hours, and industry engagement opportunities

  • Alumni Engagement – Help connect current students with WCM’s growing alumni community

  • Advocacy Campaigns – Use your voice to promote WCM through public outreach and awareness initiatives

Membership Commitment

Annual Dues: $500 per member (may be paid in full or through installments)

These dues support Junior Board activities and contribute directly to WCM programming.

Fundraising Participation: Each member is expected to support or lead at least one fundraising or partnership effort per year.

Meetings:

  • Bi-monthly Board Meetings (6 per year)

  • Additional committee meetings as needed

  • Meetings are hybrid: in-person with a networking reception, and virtual options available
