In 2018 Carl Jeff Bianchi became the musical director of the Capital Horns, an ensemble of French horn players organized by Amy Horn, a colleague from the Marine Band. Mr. Bianchi graduated from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. While there he played solo horn with the Eastman Wind Ensemble under Fred Fennell. From 1964-68, Mr. Bianchi played with the U.S. Marine Band and he did his graduate work at Catholic University. From 1973-1997, Mr. Bianchi was the Director of Bands at James Madison High School. During his tenure, the band received many awards including the privilege of performing at two MidWest International Band Clinics. He also served as the conductor of the American Youth Symphonic Orchestra and on his retirement was named “Director Emeritus.” Mr. Bianchi was elected to membership in the American Bandmasters Association (ABA) and served as its 70th President.
