This class is your intro and overview of traditional Irish music and fiddling designed specifically for classically trained violinists! Learn Irish fiddle as a fun alternative style of playing. You’ll learn about bowings, rhythms, left and right-hand ornamentation, while building a good repertoire of tunes – jigs, reels, hornpipes, barn dances, polkas and more. Tunes will be taught traditionally – by ear – and transcriptions provided to assist and support learning. The class will learn repertoire that is commonly played at local sessions.
